Friday, December 28th, 2007

This is just a reminder that on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day there will be no new soap opera episodes on CBS. All the soaps will be returning Wednesday, January 2nd. On New Year’s Eve The Young & the Restless will be showing the episode where Cassie’s ghost returns to see Nick. The Bold & the Beautiful will also be showing a repeat episode. As the World Turns and Guiding Light will be pre-empted. All the shows will be pre-empted on New Year’s Day. Have a happy New Year.

A few weeks ago the Writer’s Guild announce their nominations for best writing on television. The daytime shows that were nominated were All My Children, As the World Turns, General Hospital, and The Young & the Restless.

Contract Status for Heather Tom

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

heather.jpg

According to the new CBS Soaps in Depth, The Bold & the Beautiful’s Heather Tom (Katie Logan) may sign a new three year contract with The Bold & the Beautiful. Even though I miss Tom playing the role of Victoria Newman on Y&R, she has been a good pick up for The Bold & the Beautiful and it is very wise of them to try to keep this emmy award winning actress.

The following week on December 31 and January 1 Guiding Light will once again be pre-empted due to coverage of college football. The Young & the Restless and The Bold & the Beautiful will show classic episodes on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. I hope everyone has a happy holiday.

The Best Storylines on The Bold & the Beautiful in 2007

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

I guess the best storyline on The Bold & the Beautiful this year was Brooke’s rape storyline. Mostly this was a decent storyline because this gave Katherine Kelly Lang a chance to show her acting chops. Since usually most of Brooke’s storylines deal with her hopping from one man to another, it was good to see her in a different type of storyline. Another good storyline is Stephanie vs Donna. For years we have seen Stephanie and Brooke go at it, but it has been enjoyable to watch Stephanie spar with the younger Logan sister. It is also good to see that B&B is starting to use more of their cast, though it would be nice if they gave Felicia a decent storyline.

The Best Storylines on Guiding Light in 2007

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

GuidingLightPrint2005.jpg

Some of the highlights on Guiding Light in 2007 was Tammy’s death. Even though this was very sad, we were able to see some great acting from different members of the cast, especially Tom Pelphrey. Another highlight is watching the Ashley and Coop romance develop. These two make a cute couple. I thought Daisy’s abortion storyline was pretty well done and once again we got a chance to see some really good acting from the characters who were involve in this storyline. Lastly I kind of like the pairing of Reva and Jeffrey. They are a pretty fun couple to watch.

B&B to Air Special Episodes During the Holidays

Monday, December 17th, 2007

This Christmas, The Bold & the Beautiful will air a Christmas episode from 2003. This episode will feature the late Darlene Connolly as Sally Spectra. It will be good to see Sally again, because she is very much miss.

On New Years, The Bold & the Beautiful will air their 5,000 episode again.

Y&R to Air Classic Episodes During the Holidays

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Young_And_Restless_Logo.jpg

This Christmas, The Young & the Restless will air a classic Christmas episode from 1995. In this episode Nick is in jail for the attempted murder of Matt Clark. It will be good to see some of the old characters who are no longer on the show anymore.

On December 31, Y&R will show the 2006 episode where Nick is visited by Cassie’s ghost.

The Best and Worse Storylines for The Young & the Restless in 2007

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Young_And_Restless_Logo.jpg

As far as storylines go 2007 was not a great year for The Young & the Restless. I have to say most of this year’s storylines just have not been very compelling. The year started off with the return of Sheila who now look just like Phyllis. This storyline was just stupid. If they wanted to finally kill off Sheila they should have just bought back Kimberlin Brown, since she is the one who created the role. At least that storyline did not last too long. Than we have the total rewrite of history by making Cane Jill’s son. Even though Daniel Goddard has been an asset to the cast, couldn’t they have found some other character for him to play, instead this whole switch at birth storyline. Than there was Daniel’s obsession with pornography. If they wanted to find a way to break up the marriage of Lily and Daniel could they have not come up with something better than this. It seem like there were a few storylines that had some potential like Nick’s amnesia and the garage collapse, but those storylines quickly fizzled. Basically none of the storylines this year have excited me. The best thing going for The Young & the Restless right now is there stellar cast. Hopefully in 2008 these actors will get someone who can once again write interesting and compelling stories for them. The actors and the viewers deserve that.

The Worse Storylines on The Bold & the Beautiful in 2007

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

Since 2007 is almost over I will look at some of the worse storylines that were on The Bold & the Beautiful this year. I guess the worse storyline was the whole scramble egg situation. When I say scramble eggs I am talking about the whole story of who was the mother of the baby that Taylor was carrying. From the beginning most people believe Brooke would end up being the biological mother and as of right now that is how it has turn out. I will give them credit for creating a different type of storyline, rather than the usual who’s the daddy story, but lets be real doesn’t Brooke have enough kids. Another storyline I was not feeling was the pairing of Rick and Phoebe. Even though they are not related by blood, for a good portion of their lives they thought they were related. At least it seems like this couple is now over. Next week I will look at the best storylines on The Bold & the Beautiful from 2007.

Guiding Light’s Worse Storylines of 2007

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

As we get closer to the end of the year I will look at some of Guiding Light’s worse storylines this past year. One of the storylines I really didn’t like was deciding to have Josh and Cassie get married. This couple is just not a good match. I think since these two have been together, they both have become not the most likable characters. I hope in 2008, that this couple will be kaput. I am also not feeling the storyline of Gus and Natalia. Mostly I did not like how Gus ask Harley for an annulment after they had been married for years, just so he can marry Natalia. Another storyline I was not crazy about was Reva pretending to be Lizzie’s friend and taking Lizzie’s bone marrow without Lizzie knowing about it, but mostly because Reva has let Lizzie believe that her daughter Sara is dead. Though I do believe that this storyline could become interesting if Lizzie ever finds out the truth. Next week I will look at the best storylines for Guiding Light in 2007.

Cady McClain is Leaving As the World Turns

Monday, December 10th, 2007

1.jpg

After recently returning to As the World Turns in July as Rosanna, Cady McClain will soon be leaving the soap once again. She has stated in the past that her return to the soap would most likely be brief. She will probably be leaving early next year. McClain is also well known for playing the role of Dixie on the soap opera All My Children.

Hunter Tylo Back at Work

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Tay31.jpg

The Bold & the Beautiful’s Hunter Tylo (Taylor) returned back to work this week after the recent death of her son Michael Tylo Jr. I am glad Tylo is returning to The Bold & the Beautiful and my thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family.

Ashley Returns to Y&R

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

0000005018_20060919232616.jpg

The Bold & the Beautiful’s Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) will make a brief return to her old stumping grounds on The Young & the Restless in December. As of right now I am not sure how long her character will be back on Y&R, but lately there has been a lot going on with her brother Jack, so this would be a good time for her to make a return to check in on him.
